Nissa Lynn ~ Review & Giveaway

I absolutely love Etsy and all the unique jewelry, clothing, art, etc. that you can find there. I was beyond excited when I found Nissa Lynn. I am in awe of her talents in creating great clothing and jewelry pieces. Pretty much everything I looked at received a response of "Ooooh, I want that."

I was beyond lucky to receive one of her Librarian Tunics for review. I chose a great black and white print with an awesome zebra print flower pin with a sparkly jewel in the center. This tunic could not be more "me". I took a few pictures to show you some of the different ways the tunic can be worn.

Just alone.

Belted high with a skinny belt.

Belted high with some of the material pulled up through to create a bubbled top.

Under an open flutter cardigan with the flower pin attached to the cardigan.

Isn't it absolutely adorable? I'm excited to wear it in the summer with my black capris and cute heels. It would be perfect to wear for a bridal or baby shower, out to dinner, or just casual with a pair of jeans! It is so versatile and so cute. I'm actually going to wear it next time with a magenta cardigan that has a black lace back on it, to add a punch of color. There are just so many ways you could wear this tunic, or one of her other tunics. She also makes other great tops, jackets, dresses and skirts. Let me show you a couple more of my favorites...

Oh, how I would love to have this dress!

Another great tunic. I love the flowers.

What a great pencil skirt that would go awesome with one of her tunics!

I know I mentioned that she does jewelry too, so I have to show you some of those great pieces as well...

Just imagine how many things you could wear this necklace with!

This necklace is so fun with all of the little sea inspired charms mixed in. What a great summer necklace!

Isn't she amazingly talented? I just love her pieces! I know you've got to be drooling over one or more of them as well and I've only shown you a small sampling! You definitely should get over to her shop and check it all out.

How would you feel about winning a great piece of jewelry by Nissa Lynn? I bet I know the answer to that. Well, Nissa Lynn has offered one of my readers a chance to win the gorgeous necklace pictured below! It is made up of a silver chain, pearl beads, crystal beads and an organza flower with a pearl bead center. Gorgeous! I'm totally jealous of whoever wins this.

Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up

If you haven't heard of Yoplait yogurt, I have no idea where you've been, but it's yummy! I was excited at the opportunity to receive a Yoplait Light yogurt gift pack that includes 28 VIP coupons for Yoplait Light yogurt, a gym bag, a reflective wrist wallet and a pedometer.

I was so excited when I received the package. The gym bag is really cool and I'm thinking it would make a great beach bag as well. I love yogurt too, so I was most excited about all the free yogurt. While I haven't started it yet, I am starting next week with their Two Week Tune Up. Basically, Yoplait Light´s Two Week Tune Up could help you lose five pounds in two weeks by:

Replacing your breakfast and lunch with a Yoplait Light yogurt, a whole grain,
and a fruit.

Eating a diet rich in lean protein and non-fat dairy, including a sensible dinner, beverages, and snacks.

Walking 30-40 minutes daily

Please visit Yoplait.com for study and full diet details.

Sounds simple enough, right? I think so and I'm going to try it starting next Monday (today is my son's birthday, Saturday we'll be gone all day at basketball tournaments and Sunday we have a lunch date with my husband's aunt, so I'm not even going to attempt it this weekend). I can't wait to see how it all goes and I'll be sure to write a post with the results when I'm done!

Do you love yogurt and wouldn't mind losing a few pounds in a couple weeks' time? Then you should try it out! Would you like to kick-start this Tune Up with a Yoplait Prize Pack of your own that includes a gym bag, a reflective wrist wallet, a pedometer and one VIP coupon* for a free cup of Yoplait Light yogurt?

Snack Taxi ~ Review & Giveaway

I've been intrigued for quite some time now with the idea of reusable sandwich and snack bags, but never took the initiative to buy any and try them out. That got me thinking that they would be a perfect thing to review. So, I present to you...Snack Taxi reusable bags for snacks and sandwiches!

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the package was the cute material they were made out of. I mean, how fun is it to take your sandwiches and snacks in a cute printed bag, rather than a boring old plastic one?! The next thing I noticed was the generous sizing of the bags. There is plenty of room in the sandwich bag for a very large sandwich and plenty of room in the snack bag for any kind of snack I can think of that I normally pack in mine and my boys' lunches.

Before I go any further, I just have to show you the bags I chose. I was sent a set to keep for the review and a set to give away to one of my readers. I couldn't resist the bags with these adorable little hedgehogs all over them. Seriously, they are so stinkin' cute! Just look...

Anyway, one of the things I was concerned about about these bags and part of the reason I have never taken the initiative to get some is I pictured the food falling out of the bags if they got jostled around. I'm not sure if you can tell in this picture below or not, but the pocket part of the material actually folds over quite a ways, so there's really no way anything can fall out. I was also very happy to read that the nylon that lines the bags has been tested to be sure that it is safe and not leeching anything into your food that you or your children shouldn't be eating. Same goes for the cute cotton prints on the outside of the bags.

Wondering about how you care for them? Well, you can throw them in the wash (unscented detergent is recommended) and dryer or simply rinse with water and air dry. Just like any other material, they will hold up better if hand washed and air dried, but I guess that's kind of obvious. So see, easy!

Now, for the main and most important benefit of these reusable snack and sandwich bags...they are REUSABLE! Have you ever really stopped to think about how many plastic bags your family goes through in a week, a month, a year?! It's honestly disgusting when you really think about how much waste something as innocent as your lunches are creating. Now, I'd love to say that I'm great about recycling and things like that, but I have to be honest and say that I am not. I do care though about doing things to make a difference in how much waste my family is creating and these reusable snack and sandwich bags are an easy (and ridiculously cute) way of doing that.

Wouldn't you love to try out some of these great reusable bags from Snack Taxi for yourself? Well, let me show you what you could win! Snack Taxi has offered one of my readers a set of one each of their sandwich and snack bags. Oh, and they are in this adorable owl print below...

If you would like a chance to win these great bags, please see below for how to gain entries...

AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask

for, it will be done for you by my "father in heaven. "or where

two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.

—Matthew 18:19–20

Throughout my years of counseling, I have discovered that many marriages lack structures to encourage intimacy. We grow up believing that one day we will get married and live happily ever after. We enter marriage ill equipped for intimacy and are disappointed when our husband or wife doesn’t possess the secret code to intimacy either.

At first marriage is fun as you begin to learn about your spouse, go to work or school, get your first apartment, pick out furniture, go to church, and are physically intimate together without guilt. The sheer complexities of your new life together, along with the many new decisions you must make, can keep you talking and sharing regularly. Slowly and subtly it happens. No one really knows when or where it happens, but something changes within the relationship. You don’t seem to talk as much.

Decisions are not met with the same excitement as when you were first married; instead, they are delegated, then discussed. Purchases become fewer, and sex and life take on a routine. You don’t feel as close but seem just to be living together. What happened? Where did the passion for one another go? Americans believe that people are either passionate or they are not. But this kind of thinking is incorrect. Passion is a dividend of consistent investments made into a relationship. Let’s reflect back a minute to when you were dating. You were selling your spouse on the idea that being married to you was a great idea. Remember the passion you had for your future spouse? Of course you remember the passion, but what you may have forgotten is the foundation of that passion, the priority of the relationship. Do you remember how you “made” time to be together? You planned your days and weeks around each other’s work schedule, including your days off. Those of you who were attending school in another city away from your future spouse, as I was, had the phone bills to prove your passion and priority. In my case, those phone bills took a giant bite out of the little income I made just so I could tell her about my day. If you were a Christian at the time, do you remember how spiritual you were? You prayed together as often as you could and perhaps even read the Bible together. You desired to know God’s will, and you wanted God to help you stay pure and still express your love to one another. Do you remember the gratitude you had for the smallest things your spouse did for you? ,is was especially true for me when Lisa cooked for me. I was so grateful! I 5lled her life with a constant stream of praise. Do you remember when you thought she was so smart and attractive and had so much potential? You believed in her and regularly encouraged her.

Understand that passion is a result of setting priorities. Too many people attempt to get back the passion instead of getting back their priorities. Once you get the priorities back, the passion follows and grows

naturally. What priorities? I will discuss priorities shortly, but before I do, I want to share an analogy I often use in counseling sessions. Many couples come in for help with sprains or fractures in their relationships. I liken the repair of a marital relationship to 5xing a broken bone. When your bone is broken, you can continue to function in a limited way, but you look and act unusual. When you go to the doctor or emergency room. The first thing the doctor does is order an X-ray of the bone. Sure enough, he looks at the structure. Regardless of how it happened, the X-ray shows a damaged structure (your bone is broken). The doctor and nurse apply a structural treatment to your structural problem in the form of a cast. The cast is a structural treatment that allows the bone to heal. The cast itself is just plastic or plaster, and it has no healing properties. But when it is applied to a broken bone to hold the bone in place, surprise! Healing can and does happen. The same thing happens when you place the priorities back into your

marriage. No matter how sprained or broken a marriage is, healing can and does take place. I have seen genuine miracles of restoration in marriages when priorities were put back into the relationship. One of

the structures I apply is what I call “the three dailies.” I want to add a personal note of testimony. As I have stated before, I would never ask you to do something that Lisa and I have not done or are not doing presently in our relationship. Lisa and I have done two of the three dailies every day for years, with only a few exceptions. When I developed the third exercise, we actively applied it to our marriage routine also.

These three exercises help Lisa and I maintain our relationship priorities. They are part of our bedtime routine. Neither of us expects to go to sleep without our relational ritual of the three dailies. They are a major highlight of my day. I get to hear about my wife’s day, hear her heart, and she gets to hear about my day and heart as well. ,is relational structure has richly developed our skill for intimacy to such a level that it can weather the day-to-day challenges of children, writing, and media demands, together with all of our other commitments. When your marriage priorities are restored, your passion will be restored. Everyone who knows me is well aware of my passion for Lisa.

I love her and really like her as well. This passion is the fruit of disciplinethat is born out of a heart of love.

THE THREE DAILIES

1. Prayer

Prayer is an absolute necessity in your marriage. I am constantly amazed when couples tell me that the last time they really prayed together, not including praying over food or a good night prayer with children, was years ago. Sometimes they say, “We both pray, just not together.” Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.” The Lord must be part of building your house. Prayer is an active way to include the Lord as part of the building plan of your marriage.

Matthew 18:19 says, “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” As we’ve previously noted, this verse discusses the importance

of two or more agreeing in God’s name. It doesn’t say when one agrees—it says when two agree. Since Christ’s resurrection, He intercedes with and for His bride, which is the church. The Lord sees prayer as being extremely important. God’s pleasure is for us to commune with Him not just as individuals,

but as a couple as well. Prayer is one of the priorities that must be set in place by a couple desiring more intimacy. Remember, intimacy is three dimensional, involving spirit, soul, and body. As we grow together spiritually, our intimacy in the other two areas will grow as well. Prayer is just talking aloud to God with your spouse, similar to talking with a friend. Prayer doesn’t have to take long hours in any particular

position. It is the principle of connecting with God that is essential. As a couple, within your governing style in your marriage, process the decision of daily prayer. As a result of your decision as a couple, place a

check by which of the following statements you agree with.

* We have agreed to pray daily together to improve and maintain our intimacy for the next thirty days.

* We have agreed not to pray together daily for the next thirty days, knowing that it will negatively affect our intimacy. The structure of prayer taking place within your marriage is one essential part of the three daily exercises. This structure will also be a part of your thirty-day log at the end of each day. Hopefully you have agreed to daily prayer. I know better than most that each couple has many variables. Some of these differences include sleep preferences, work schedules, children’s school and extracurricular activities, church, and fellowshiping with family and friends.

Look at your schedules. When can you pray together? In the morning? At lunch? In the evening? Take the time to discuss this with your spouse, and see if you can agree on a time to pray together. In the space below, write your first and second options to pray together.

Option one is ________ a.m./p.m.

Option two is ________ a.m./p.m.

In your thirty-day log, it’s important to track your progress regarding this exercise to maintain the consistency that ignites the passion and intimacy you both desire. Those who travel often ask how to maintain the thirty-day program while out of town. In this day of modern technology, it is a non issue for the creative person. You can use your calling card or mobile phone to pray with your spouse over the phone. This really demonstrates a commitment to maintaining your spiritual intimacy. Even if you’re in Hong Kong, you can e-mail a prayer to your wife and chat with her. Remember that the structure first brings healing, then passion. As you walk together spiritually, your intimacy over the next thirty days can

nourish.

I love walking in the garden of my life with Lisa and coming with her into the presence of our loving Father. I really believe this has been instrumental in developing the strength and intimacy of our marriage. couples come in for help with sprains or fractures in their relationships. My personal views on this book: I have to be honest in saying that I have not even had a chance to pick this book up yet. What I can tell you is that I wanted to review this book, not because my husband and I are having trouble in our marriage, but because we are always striving to make the Lord the center of our marriage and to grow stronger and stronger in Him together. We know that when God is at the center of a marriage, He blesses it greatly. We have been so incredibly blessed over the years and continually thank Him for all of His many provisions, not only in our marriage, but in our lives. I'm thinking that Valentine's Day is a perfect day to start with this book and I plan to give a review of it once we have finished it. To God be the glory!

Sanuk ~ Review & Giveaway

Cute shoes! Cute shoes! I love cute shoes! Oh wait, but these aren't shoes...they're sidewalk surfers and they are AWESOME!

I'd like to tell you about a lovely little company named Sanuk (which is the Thai word for fun!). Some of you may remember that I did a review of them in the past. Well, I'm here to tell you that I still think they are awesome. In fact, I love them so much that I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review another great pair!

Let me introduce you to the Sanuk Sidewalk Surfer Scribble in Grey. Look at how awesome they are...

I wanted a great pair of shoes that I could wear without socks, with jeans. That's how I like to roll most of the time in the spring/summer. These are the perfect shoe for that.

The soles, as well as the main part of the shoe, are made of super lightweight materials. My feet don't sweat like crazy in them and they are easy to slip on and off. Um, and they are ridiculously cute. Did I happen to mention that? Did I really need to, now that you've seen the picture? They're pretty much perfect.

The people at Sanuk are incredibly cool too and I've loved working with them. They really believe in their products and they should, because they're great!

Not only do they make the great Sidewalk Surfers like I reviewed here, but they also make awesome shoes like the ones below...

Men's Fraid So Big and Tall

Men's Carpe DM

Kids Ibiza

Kids Donny

Women's Ibiza Masquerade

I know you've got to be wanting a pair of Sanuks by now, so you'll be happy to know that the awesome people at Sanuk would like to offer one of my readers a pair of Sanuks of your choice $60.00 or under! Isn't that awesome?! If you'd like to win a pair of shoes, see below for how to gain entries...

I saw this skirt and thought it was so dang cute! Now, being practical, I don't even know how often I would wear a skirt like this, but I still love it. (Oh, and the price on this one is outrageous).

If Money Were No Object #12...

I've been dreaming of an awesome jewelry piece from this company for a couple of years now, but there is no way I can justify putting out the kind of cash it would require to get one. I can't help but check out their website often for what's new with them and dream a little dream about owning one of their pieces. This one is the one that currently catches my eye...

If Money Were No Object #11...

Yes, we're back at shoes. I'm sorry, I can't help it! I'm dreaming of warm weather and when I saw these shoes, I couldn't help but imagine wearing them with skirts, jeans and cute tops, dresses... The bright and shiny red is unlike anything else I have and I could definitely use these in my wardrobe. Need them? Ok, no. Want them? Heck yes I do!

Sweaty Bands ~ Review

So, have you ever experienced working out and having the elastic headband you're wearing either slide up the back of your head slowly and end up coming off or even suddenly sliding off and shooting off of your head rubberband style? Well, I have and it's annoying. Then your hair is falling in your face and actually sticking to your face because of the sweat (my favorite is when it decides that your eye seems like a nice place for it to rest), you are in the middle of an exercise and don't want to have to bend over and pick it up, and even if you do you know it's just going to come back off again. Ugh. Wouldn't it be nice to have a headband that would actually stay put while you're working out and even (imagine this) look cute? Could there possibly be such a thing? I'm here to tell you that there is...

Sweaty Bands is an awesome company that makes headbands that won't slip off while you're doing whatever activity you like to do. Running, volleyball (they are the official headband of the AVP tour), soccer, tennis, basketball, rock climbing, kayaking...you name it. What I love most about them though, is that they are so cute, you can wear them as a great accessory on any ordinary day! They truly provide function and fashion all-in-one. They offer a ton of different colors and designs, so you are sure to find one to coordinate with all of your workout outfits, uniforms, etc. I'm just imagining how great they will be in the summer at the beach! See, I am excited about them for running and working out as well as for wearing as a cute accessory! Here are the cute styles/designs they sent to me...

AREN'T THEY CUTE?!

When I read that they didn't slip, I thought "yeah right", but now that I've tried both styles for myself I can honestly say that they don't. I even have kind of a flat head in the back, so that makes it even harder for elastic headbands to stay on my head without using bobbi pins to help hold them on. I don't need anything to help hold Sweaty Bands on though! Whatever the material is that they put on the inside of the band, it does wonders. I am sold on these headbands and definitely see myself getting more in the future (probably the near future).

So, what are you waiting for? Get over to Sweaty Bands and check out all the great styles for yourself! You know you want some!

Oh the cuteness of this shirt. I mean, seriously? I would LOVE to have this piece in my wardrobe for this summer. Alas, I would never ever pay this much for a tank. Why would such a small piece of material cost so much? Oh well, it's still insanely cute.

I'm a sucker for jewelry and Alex and Ani has the cutest bracelets and bangles. I love the simple design that has just enough detail to make it interesting without being over the top. They can be worn with dressy or casual clothes. I just love them. Even though they are so versatile, they are still at a price that I just can't justify.

If Money Were No Object #8...

And here we are, spending a moment with my favorite handbag designer, Kathy Van Zeeland. How can you not love her bags? I love the bling, the glitz, the way they hold everything I need to carry around with me, the little inside pockets to stash my phone, lip gloss, and all the other little things that I would otherwise have to dig in the bottom of my purse for. Love, love, love her bags. I must admit though, they are too pricey for me, so I get them for cheap off of ebay. Yeah, I'm good like that. Isn't this one a beauty though?

If Money Were No Object #7...

Again, I am going to rave about my love for shoes. I love heels, flats, boots, flip flops, sandals, you name it! I cannot ever imagine having too many pairs of shoes. As much as I love my heels, there are definitely days I just adore flats. I'm a preschool aide, so flats are much more practical for what I do during the day anyway. When I saw these flats, I got a little giddy. The animal print, the metallic, the shiny beading around the top. What's not to love? Although these aren't horrendously expensive, they are still more than this mom of 3 who just started working 4 months ago can afford to spend. So sad. I'll just have to admire them from afar...
