Silverthaw Jewelry Review & Giveaway

Sparkly ears, sparkly ears...I have cute little sparkly ears. Thanks to Silverthaw Jewelry's awesome jewelry artist, Erin! My ears are adorned with a pair of her lovely Raspberry Shimmer Stud Earrings. Aren't they so pretty and sparkly?!
Yay! I just love them! When I told Erin which ones I would like, she made them up for me and sent them a couple days later. I was so excited when they arrived in the mail in a package containing a little box all tied up with a bow (great for sending as a gift, by the way). When I opened the box and saw the shimmery joy that awaited me, I instantly loved them even more in person than I did in the picture I had seen. They are fabulous! I chose this particular color too because it is not something I have much of and I thought it would go great with so many things. Don't you agree? She has sooo many other awesome stud earrings to choose from, as well as really cool necklaces and leverback earrings. Here are just a few of the other fantastic creations she sells in her Etsy shop...
Erin makes all of these gorgeous resin creations that I happen to adore. I couldn't be happier with my new earrings and I'm confident that you would be happy with anything you might purchase from her as well. In fact, you have the chance to win a fun piece of jewelry from Silverthaw Jewelry! That's right, Erin is offering one of my readers their choice of Hogwarts House Necklace! If you're a fan of Harry Potter or know someone who is, you'll love this!

Everything You Never Cared To Know About Me...

There are a few random things that have always just intrigued, interested or seemed fun to me that I don't think I've ever even told anyone. Kind of weird, but I was just thinking about this the other day and while I have to say that my husband is pretty good about knowing what my favorite things are, there are a few things I don't think I've ever even told him. So, what better place to put those things out there than here on my blog, right?! So, here goes. Do with this information what you will...or won't. And if you ever feel the urge to do something that will make me burst with delight, here are some great ideas. ;-) #1 - Hand-Knitted Socks
I have always had a desire to own a pair of long, colorful hand-knitted socks. There is just a sense of whimsy to them that makes me smile. Perhaps too, it's because I have always wanted to be able to knit (I'm a crocheter) and have just never been able to figure it out. Anyway, slipping my feet into some seriously cute and fun hand-knitted socks is one of the simple pleasures I'm yet to experience. #2 - A Tea Kettle
Just the idea of having a cute tea kettle that sits on my stove as decoration when I'm not using it and then to whistle at me when I heat water for tea...oh, bliss. I adore this yellow color, since it would go perfectly in my kitchen. It's just so fun! When I read in books about them "putting the kettle on" or "the tea kettle whistling", I can't help but want one for myself. Just seems so cozy. I'm into cozy. #3 - Birkenstocks
Oh, a cute pair of Birkenstocks. Comfy, simple, easy. Picture it...Birkenstocks and a cute pair of hand-knitted socks. Be still, my heart. And if you haven't already noticed that I'm a total dork, this should confirm it. ;-) #4 - A Lap Quilt
I would love a colorful, fun little lap quilt to use when I'm watching t.v. or reading. Something cheerful to keep me cozy that is far too "girly" for any of the boy-folks in my house to want to use. Just for me. Now, I realize I'm sounding really old-ladyish by this point, with all of the items I'm putting. I have to tell you that that's kind of a joke around our house. I love to crochet, play bingo on the computer, cross stitch sometimes, that sort of thing. Everyone says I'm like an old lady and I tell them "I'm practicing up. I'm going to be an awesome old lady!" Seriously though, I think it's all the simple pleasures that a lot of people don't take the time to notice until they get older, that bring me joy even at this point in my life. I wouldn't want it any other way...

HotColdComfort Review

Oh the agony of migraines. If you're a migraine sufferer, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Everyone's migraines are a little different, but they are all agonizingly miserable for sure. Mine start in the back of the neck, kind of like a little neck ache. It isn't long before they climb up the back of my head and around to the front. My ears burn (kind of like the pain of an earache), my sense of smell is so strong that things like an air freshener in another room can make me feel sick, my vision gets fuzzy and I feel nauseous. Oh yeah, I have some real doozies. As you can imagine, when a migraine comes on, I'm willing to try just about anything for relief. When I found HotColdComfort, I was instantly intrigued. Could something like this really bring relief for my miserable migraines? Could Heat Therapy Rice Bags really do the trick? Well, unfortunately I had an opportunity to try out some of their products yesterday and here's what I found out...a cold eyemask on my eyes, a cold wrap around my neck and heat on my feet are AMAZING when you're suffering from a migraine! I was a little skeptical at first and I don't mean to say that they made my migraine go away, but man did they help in a HUGE way. Here is the set I'm talking about that the super sweet Sally sent for me to try out. It's their Natural Migraine Relief with Hot Cold Packs...
And here's some interesting info about this set, taken directly from their website... Cold reduces excess blood flow and inflammation. Our migraine headache relief set works by freezing the neck wrap and eye pillow and using them cold from the freezer around the base of the neck and eye or forehead area. Headache's pounding sensation is often caused by excess bloodflow and we target the areas where blood flows and creates the pounding sensation. Meanwhile, heat the footwarmers in the microwave and place feet right on top. You can also slip them inside a pair of socks or slippers. The heat from the footwamers draws the excess blood flow away from the pounding head and toward the feet. We fill our Headache Relief Set with Heat Packs and Cold Packs with flaxseed and rice which are excellent conductors of heat and cold. Measurements are Neck Wrap 18" x 5", Contoured Eye Pillow 8" x 4", Footwamers 9" x 3.5". I'm tellin' ya, it was such a great relief to have this set yesterday. I can't even tell you. My husband and I had a little joke going too about that I looked fabulous as I lay there suffering because the set matches our black and white bedding perfectly. LOL Really though, I was very impressed by the performance of this set and highly recommend it to anyone who suffers from migraines or even just bad headaches. I also couldn't help but think of how cozy the footwarmers would be in the winter, since I always seem to have cold feet and if my feet are cold, my whole body is. So, whether for yourself or someone you know, this set has many possibilities for great comfort. There are so many other types of hot/cold wraps, pillows, etc. that they offer like these... This is a cool headband style that works for headaches, sore jaws, earaches, etc.
Check out these microwavable slippers!
This is a lumbar belt. Kind of cool because you could wear it while you're doing things instead of having to sit while you are cooling/heating your lower back.
This wrap would be great for people with carpal tunnel.
Those are just a few of the many things they offer. They also offer sets for pregnancy, work stress, etc. Very cool! They also have an Etsy shop along with their website that you can go to. You should stop by their Facebook page and show them some love too! If you have people on your Christmas list that seem to be impossible to buy for, this may just be the perfect type of gift for them! In fact, Sally is offering my readers a 10% off coupon when you use coupon code: september2012 and it is good until the end of September! The code is only good at www.hotcoldcomfort.com, so be sure to shop at the website as opposed to their Etsy page. Why not get some Christmas shopping done early?! I also think that their Bulk Wholesale Heat Pads would make great bridesmaid gifts. So fun! Be sure to check out all of the great stuff they have to offer. I'm so thankful to have found them and found some relief for my migraines and if you have aches and pains that could use hot or cold comfort, I know you'll love them too!
