Zak Designs ~ Review & Giveaway

Summer is finally here!!! That means meals out on the deck or patio, friends and family over for barbecues, all that fun stuff. Well, I found some great products that will add a little extra color and fun to your summer meals and get-togethers!

Zak Designs is a company that makes some of the coolest tableware and kitchenware that I've ever seen! I received some great products to review and I love them!

First, we got a Tines 4 Piece Serve Set that includes a pickle fork, olive spoon, mini tongs and mini spoon. This is perfect for a relish tray or scooping up condiments. The colors are bright and it's heavy duty, so I know it will be a set we'll have for a very long time.

Another item I received for review was the 4 Piece Hostess Serve Set. This set has a mini server, mini spatula, mini serving spoon and mini slotted serving spoon. These are absolutely perfect for desserts! They are also nice bright colors and are heavy duty to stand up to many years of use. They're great!

My most favorite item I received for review is the Marui Set of 6 Individual HiBall Tumblers - Assorted Brights. These cups are made out of a nice, sturdy acrylic and hold 21 oz., so they are great for iced tea, lemonade, ice water... all those great summer drinks! My favorite thing about them is that they are each a different color. Moms, listen to this because I know you'll like it... this has eliminated the "He drank out of my cup." and "That's my cup." problem. Each of the boys pick a color and that is their cup for the day. No one "accidentally" drinks out of anyone else's cup and we don't use 20 cups in a day, they just rinse out their cup and re-use it. I love these cups!!!

This really is just a small sampling of Zak Designs products. They have some really awesome tableware for babies and kids too!

I would LOVE to get myself one of the Quarry 3qt Batter Bowls in Licorice!

For all of you parents out there, there is a great Mealtime Fun Zone with a forum, recipe exchange and more. You'll want to check that out for some great tips for mealtime with kids!

They really just have a ton of great products that are a break from the norm. So, wouldn't you love to brighten up your kitchen and your summer meals?! Of course you would and you could get started with a free set of Marui Tumblers like I reviewed. That's right, one of my readers will win a set of 6 Marui Tumblers! See below for how to gain entries...

CSN Stores Teaser

I love to shop online, especially around Christmas time and I like to find online stores that offer a big variety of things so I can get the bulk of my shopping done in one place. CSN Stores offer just that! With about 200 stores, they offer almost anything you can think of. I was looking for a bed and bedding for my oldest son recently and was really impressed with everything they offer. They have tons of home decor items, kitchen items, you name it.

Check out this awesome bed! My kids would love a bed like this! Hey, I might be willing to kick Brian out of our room to have a bed like this. Ok, not really, but it is super cool!

I've always wanted a bench like this in my entry to throw all of our hats, gloves, etc. in in the winter. I would love to have this one.

This is just an extremely small sampling of what CSN Stores have to offer. I'll be back soon to feature a super cool product of theirs and share more about them. Until then, get over to CSN and check out all the great products they have. I promise you'll find something you'll love!

Zuzatz ~ Review & Giveaway

ZUZATZ™ [zoo-zats] - noun
1. footwear featuring interchangeable and stylish straps, making fashion fun and easy for every woman.
Origin: German; from the word zusätzlich, meaning “add to.

So, that tells you what Zuzatz are, but now let me tell you a little more about them...

Versatility is the name of the game with these sandals. In fact, they put me in the mind of a certain handbag company that's really popular right now because the concept is the same... one base and several options to change the look. Not only that, but think of the space this frees up in your closet! Instead of filling your closet with several different pairs of flip flops, you could have 2 bases and several different straps and have the equivalent of several pairs of flip flops! (I'm pretty sure my husband approves of this idea).

There are two colors of bases available (brown and black) and almost 20 different strap options. Just think of the possibilites!

I chose a black base and the Daytona Beach strap and was sent a surprise extra, the Laguna Beach Strap! The base has a lifted sole, but not the bulky kind. I love it because I'm short, so it gives me a little extra height. This also allows them to have a more dressy look when paired with skirts or capris, so I really like that as well. I basically have 2 new pairs of sandals now! Look how great they are...

Something else I thought was cool was that the company is in Lake Orion, MI! That's only about an hour or so from where I live! I thought it would be really cool to let other people know about a company that's local to me and I know a lot of my readers are from Michigan too, so it's kind of fun to see a company that's so close to home!

Now, the issue of price. The base sole with a strap is $41.00 and the straps range from $12.00 to $16.00 each. There are also two 3 packs that are $22.00 each. They also have a deal where you can buy a pair of Zuzatz and pick any 3 straps for $30.00. That's like 4 pairs of shoes for $71.00 (or $17.75 each)! I think that's a great deal for such a versatile shoe.

I really look forward to seeing what other great straps they come out with. I'm hoping to see bright pink, teal and some other cool colors in the future (hint, hint). ;-)

So, are you thinkin' these shoes are pretty cool? Of course you are! Well, one lucky reader is going to win a pair of their very own!!! See below for how to gain entries...

Alegria

Alegria means happiness. To me though, it means AWESOME shoes!

If you've never seen or heard of Alegria shoes, then you are seriously missing out!

The excitement I felt when I found out I was going to be able to review a pair of their amazing shoes bordered on being spastic (just ask my husband and children). I have been dreaming of owning a pair of their shoes for well over a year and to finally have the chance was extremely exciting to me.

I chose their Venice Fuchsia Snake Sandal. I love bright pink, so these seemed like the perfect choice for me. They arrived to me jumping up and down as I was seeing the delivery guy bringing them up to the door (I stopped long enough to open the door and get them from him) and followed with squeals of excitement as I opened them up. Oh the cuteness! Then, I put them on my feet and was instantly impressed with how incredibly comfy they are. I had a flashback to all the times I spent walking around the zoo or on long days of shopping in flip flops and how my feet would be killing me part way through the day and I realized that would never have to happen again, now that I had these sandals. I truly can't describe the level of comfort. It's like walking on marshmallow clouds (minus the sticky part). For me, the sandals look best when paired with jeans because I am short and have wide feet, so where the top strap goes across, it kind of makes my legs/feet look stubby (which I'm irritated at myself for, because I know that happens and should have just chosen one of their other amazing styles). Otherwise though, they are amazing and I love the color I chose. See how cute they are...

I kind of went between the ones I chose and these Porto Houndstooth Sandals. Aren't they awesome?!

Now, these are just 2 of the 4 styles of sandals they have that I've been talking about. Here's what they're really known best for and more cuteness that gets me giddy and excited and craving another pair of adorable comfort for my feet!

First off, let me tell you about their clogs. They have 3 different styles of clogs (all amazingly cute). They are the Classic, the Seville and the Donna. Here are one of my favorite designs in each.

The Classic - "The original happy clog".
Alegria Women's Classic Clogs remains a staple of the Alegria Spring and Fall collections for women and is offered in over 50 colors and custom, collectible prints including Team Green, Peace & Love and Frida.

The Seville - A unique design of an adjustable swivel strap.
Alegria Women's Seville Clogs is a great style with open back provides ventilation, plus the strap option for a more secure fit. Our designer worked very hard to make sure Alegria Seville's fit is perfect around the heel and the hardware to be both totally functional and attractive.

The Donna - Nurse Approved "Happy Clog".
Alegria Donna Nursing Clogs have a Lab rated slip resistant outsole and stain-proof leather coating plus Alegria's signature footbed. Alegria Professional Donna Nursing Clog is the perfect clog for you to have both safety and fun in any work environment. Long hours of boring shift? Spice it up with colors!

Next comes my favorite... their shoes! They offer the Paloma (my absolute favorite) and the Debra.

Paloma Shoes - The Popular Classic Mary Jane style.
Alegria Women's Paloma Mary Janes feature an adjustable velcro strap makes this a great fitting shoe for regular or wide width. Adorable and versatile, the Alegria Paloma Mary Janes looks great with skirts and dresses for women all ages.

Debra Shoes - Professional Nursing Shoes with Comfort.
Alegria Debra Nursing Shoes is a popular shoe for Professional like Nurses, Doctors & Chefs. It offers a Lab rated slip resistant outsole & stain-proof leather coating plus Alegria's signature footbed which brings you great comfort after long hours of walking & standing. Alegria Nursing Shoes' design and Leather upper deliver a professional look & feel.

They have boots too! Insanely cute boots!!! Take a look at the Sierra and Sedona.

Sierra Boots - A Tasteful Take On A Junior Look.
Alegria Women's Sierra Sweater Boots Shoes have been redesigned to make an extraordinarily comfy concept appealing to all women.

Sedona Boots - The Perfect basic with Just Enough Shine!
Alegria Women's Sedona Boots provide the best of both worlds; a fashion boot on a rocker bottom. With Alegria Sedona Boots shoes, you can stay warm, look fashionable and stay comfortable all day long!

Aren't you totally wanting these shoes?! I don't know how you couldn't be. Just the looks alone make me want them, but now that I know how incredibly comfortable they are... that just makes me want them even more! Are you a nurse, hairdresser, or someone else who spends a lot of time on your feet? Then you need these shoes! There are tons of great reviews from nurses about how much they love their Alegria shoes!

Here is some more info on the construction of their shoes and just why they are so incredibly comfortable...

Mild Rocker Outsole - Engineered to roll naturally, the rocker bottom outsole induces a normal walking motion while naturally toning leg muscles. It also benefits users by promoting a perfect posture, reducing stress on muscles, joints and back, giving you energy all day long.

Perfect Fit Footbed - An anatomically correct patented interlocking footbed system with arch support that is loaded with latex, memory foam and cork to create a "perfect fit" every time by forming to the natural contours of the foot, giving each user their own customized fit. Footbed is removable and available in medium and wide widths.

Color Therapy - From brilliant patent finishes to metallic prints, from soft natural leather to funky artwork, there is a color for every mood.

Just wait until you see all the amazing new colors and designs they have coming in the fall, not to mention the cute new styles! Pssst... you can check them out on their facebook page here.

As if what I've told and shown you isn't awesome enough, Alegria has a really great contest going on that you will want to enter once you get yourself your own pair! The Girlfriends' Getaway Contest is a chance for you to win a weekend getaway for you and your best friend to Canyon Ranch Miami Beach Hotel and Spa valued at $2,500! Now, that sounds like something I could definitely handle. How about you? Go here to read about how to enter!

Ok, so let's get down to business. If you're like me, you're probably wondering about price. Alegria shoes, sandals, clogs and boots are a little on the pricey side for sure. Would I say they are worth the money? Absolutely! The quality is top-notch, the comfort is beyond anything I've ever experienced in footwear and the variety of colors, textures, designs and styles is amazing. I know just for myself that the comfort factor makes the price beyond worth it, so I can just imagine what they would be like for a nurse or someone else who spends a lot of time on their feet. I can truly say that I was blown away by everything about the sandals I received and that I would happily buy another pair. Yes, being a single income family of 5 would mean I'd have to save up, but it would be totally worth it.

So what are you waiting for? I only showed you a small sampling of the amazing colors they offer, so get over to Alegria and check them all out. I guarantee you'll find something you'll love!

Disclosure: I was provided a pair of sandals free for review from Alegria and was compensated in no other way. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and were in no way influenced by the company involved.

Opaleen ~ Review & Giveaway

Jewelry is a weakness of mine and so there's no wondering why I was excited to have the opportunity to review some pieces from Opaleen!

The first piece I chose was a cool gold-tone necklace. It's really long, so you can wear it several ways and since most of the necklaces I have these days are silver, I thought it would be a nice piece to add to my collection. I love it! It's so cute and the boys even said it was cool.
Nîmes Gold Coin Bracelet ($34.00) This ultra long chain is adorned with gold roses engraved onto charms of varying sizes. Its dark gold color gives it an air of antique elegance. It can be worn doubled or tripled for an added flair, or left long and simple for a touch of understated elegance. Necklace measures 58" long, largest charms are 15 mm wide.

The second piece I chose to review was this silver, hammered bracelet. This was the one I was most excited about, but after receiving it and trying it on, I decided it's a little too bulky looking on me. I also think I would have liked it better if it was in more of a matte finish. Overall though, it is a nice bracelet. I gifted it to my much taller sister yesterday and it looks great on her. She loves it, so that worked out great!
Valence Silver Textured Bracelet ($34.00): Our Valence bracelet is a subtle and sophisticated take on large cuffs. It features vivid texturing on both sides and a hidden, interior hinge to allow for easy wear. Band width measures 1 1/2" at its largest.

Then, they sent me a surprise piece of jewelry that I totally wasn't expecting! It's a great bright pink and gold summer bracelet and it is sooo cute. I think I would actually like it better if it were pink and silver, but the pink and gold looks awesome too. Totally just a matter of preferance. However, I can wear it along with the necklace I chose too, so that's great!
Avila Pink and Gold Bracelet ($24.00): Subtle gold accents and gorgeous enamel highlight our Avila bracelet in Pink. Made of rich pink enamel and gold tone motifs, pair this bracelet with any or all of the bracelets in our Avila collection for a sleek and stylish addition to any outfit. Bracelet includes hidden hinge opening and can be worn lower or higher depending on taste. The bracelet is 2 3/8” wide and has a circumference of 8 1/8”. The bracelet is oval.

Overall, I was very happy with Opaleen's jewelry. It came packaged in boxes with silky purple ribbons and silky purple pouches. If you were to send any of their jewelry as a gift, you would be very happy with the way they package them and honestly, it was fun for me too. The jewelry seems to be constructed with good quality and should be something you will enjoy wearing for a very long time. Aside from the necklaces and bracelets, they also have great earrings and rings too! Did I mention they have free shipping on all orders?! Well, they do. That along with their reasonable prices make their jewelry all the more appealing to me!

So, whether you're looking to spoil yourself or get a special gift for someone, Opaleen is a great choice. Get over there and check out all their great jewelry now!

Oh, would you like to win some free jewelry? Well, Opaleen was kind enough to offer one of my readers a $50 Gift Certificate to their website!!! See below for how to gain entries...

CitySlips Review

So, have you ever been somewhere in your cute heels, your feet are killing you and all you want to do is get out of those dang shoes but it's completely inappropriate to take your shoes off? Be in pain no more, my friends... CitySlips have you covered!

CitySlips are fold-up ballet flats with an expandying carrying case for heels!
Conveniently fit into most purses & handbags
Double-soled structure for added durability
Elastic backing for extra comfort on the heel
Carrying case expands to a larger bag for those “killer” heels

I was sent a pair of their gold CitySlips for review and they are so cute! The case easily fits into my purse and then if I want to take off my heels and put on the flats, the case becomes a bag to put my heels in. How cool is that?

Now, I don't go out on the town often, but I am thinking CitySlips are the absolute perfect shoes for wedding receptions. You know, after you've been wearing your heels all day and looking all snazzy (Ha, I just said snazzy) but when you get to the reception you just want to ditch your heels and head out on the dance floor. These would be perfect for that! You can just stick the bag with your heels in it under the table and you're good to go! One of my cousins is getting married in September and I'm thinking of getting a dress with brown tones, so these gold flats will be perfect for the reception.

These would also be fantastic for people who commute. Now, where I'm from that's not really an issue, but for people in the city who have to catch buses or the subway, these would be a life-saver! You wouldn't have to look nerdy wearing tennis shoes with your work clothes and instead could thrown on this cute pair of flats until you got to work and put your heels on.

Or, just keep these in your purse in case of a dreaded shoe incident in which you break a heel or your shoe starts to come apart after you catch it on the curb (hey, it's happened to me before) and you won't have to worry because you can just pull out your cute CitySlips!

Are you wondering about the construction of these flats and how sturdy they can possibly be, seeing as they fold in half? Well, they are made with a double-sole construction that allows them to fold in half, but still be durable enough for all day, everyday use. They also only weigh 6 oz., so they are light on your feet.

The price is right too, at only $24.95 a pair and they are available in black, silver and gold.

So get over to CitySlips and get yourself a pair so you never have to deal with that miserable discomfort without an easy solution again!

Disclosure: I was sent a pair of CitySlips by the company to review and was not compensated in any other way. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and were in no way persuaded by the company involved.

JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness for Wii ~ Review & Giveaway

We got the kids (ok, and ourselves) a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and we all love it. There are a variety of different types of games for our different personalities (Gavin and Brian like sports games, Riley likes adventure/action games, Asher loves driving games and I like puzzle-type games) but what we all like best are games we can play together as a family. When I saw the JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness game, I got really excited!

Here is a little info about the game...

As you know, for years, JumpStart has been creating the best learning games for kids. Now, with Get Moving Family Fitness, JumpStart is making fitness fun too! Discover the ultimate family sports game with fitness expert and mom of 4, Brooke Burke. With more than 15 sports challenges in 11 exotic arenas, Get Moving is the fun, new way to keep your family active!

Some key features in our new Wii game make it all the more exciting! You can design your own character to race and play, build customized routines for extra challenge, compete head to head or play solo, play underwater, on a farm, in Egypt of 8 other exotic locations, and access expert tips for more ways to stay healthy!

The game arrived as I was heading out the door one evening, but I gave it to the boys anyway and told them they could play it while I was gone (Brian was doing some work in his office, so this would be perfect to keep the boys occupied for a little while). They were excited to have a new game to play and since Asher and Riley both love the JumpStart online game, they were especially excited.

The next morning when I got them up for school, they were telling me that they really liked it and Riley asked if I could play it with him later that day. I figured that would be a great way to spend some time with him and see what the game was all about.

You get to create your own little person to look like you (or if you're Asher, to look as crazy as possible) which the kids think is fun and I kinda do too. If you haven't figured out that I'm just a big dork, then you haven't been reading my blog. LOL I was disappointed to see that only 2 people can play at the same time. You can play solo or head-to-head with one other player. Seeing that it's called "Family" Fitness, I was hoping it would be one of the 4 player games, so that was kind of a bummer. Riley and I did all the races (my favorite was the speed skating one where you have to duck under caution tape), we did some batting in baseball, we shot some 3 point shots in basketball, we bumped the ball in volleyball, we did the tire run and run back run in football and we did a little boxing. We had a great time, although some things were a little hard for even me right at first. Overall though, it was fun.

One cool thing about the solo play though, is that you can use the Wii Balance Board with it if you have one. You can use it for step aerobics, dodgeball, pinball and several other of the activites. Another cool thing is that you earn medals for how you do in each activity, so the kids like to see whether they got a gold, silver or bronze medal at the end of each thing they do.

During the whole time of playing with Riley, I kept thinking "Is this really doing much for me in terms of fitness? I don't really feel like I'm doing all that much.". Ha! Let me tell you that the next day, my arms and my glutes were seriously feeling it. So yup, fitness is definitely included in the game!

My overall rating for this game would probably be a 3 out of 5 and here is why...

1. It only supports up to 2 players at a time
2. Most of the activities are too hard for my 4 1/2 year old who actually usually catches on to games pretty quickly.
3. It's too juvenile for my 11 year old.

So basically, it just doesn't deliver what I was hoping for in terms of being a "family" game. For some families it may be great, but for ours, it's just ok. I think if it had been marketed as a kid's game instead of a family game, that would have been better. I'm thinking kids ages 5-9 would probably like it best.

In saying that, I love JumpStart and their online community is an absolute favorite in our house. Riley and Asher (8 and 4 1/2 years) are on it pretty much daily. So, just because this game wasn't all that I had hoped it would be, I am still a huge fan of JumpStart and can't wait to see what they come out with in the future. Perhaps a family game that supports up to 4 players?!

Does this game sound like it would be a good fit for your kids? If so, you're in luck, because JumpStart wants to give one of my readers your very own copy of JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness for the Wii! See below for how to get entered to win...

Mountain Hardwear ~ Review & Giveaway

Looking for sturdy gear for camping, hiking, climbing, etc.? You will love this company I'm about to tell you about then! Mountain Hardwear makes sturdy, durable gear and clothing that any outdoor enthusiast will get excited about!

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to review their La Strada skirt from their Mountain Lifestyle line. As soon as it arrived, the quality of the garment was obvious. I honestly don't own many things that I would say were made with such great quality. It's easy to see that the fabric and the way it is sewn will hold up very well and should last me years and years. Seriously, I mean it.

All of my worries about what the skirt might be like were quickly dismissed once I put it on. I was afraid with how short I am that the skirt would be a length that would hit in an unflattering place on my legs, but it didn't. In fact, the fit of this skirt is incredible. It fits me like it was tailored just for me. I also envisioned this scratchy, rough material because of the idea of it being for outdoors and durable... no scratchy or rough material at all. Instead, it's soft and super comfortable. The skirt has a lot of nice stretch and also has DriRelease® waist lining that wicks moisture and keeps you cool. It truly is just an incredibly made skirt.
